Setting a price for a translation work is not as simple as it may seem as there are many factors to take into consideration when doing so. Some of the most relevant aspects that professional translators take into consideration when preparing a quote are:

The deadline
Each assignment has its own delivery deadline, which I set based on the text and my availability. Urgent translations may be subject to a surcharge.

The difficulty of the project
For example, the classification and order of the files in a localisation project, their formats (which may require conversion so they can be edited), etc.

The specialisation level of the text
It determines the time needed for the necessary research (i.e. searching for the correct term in specialised databases or thesaurus).

The services as a whole requested by the client
For example, there are projects that require working mainly with text, like in the case of sworn translations (the price of which is calculated either by word count (i.e. rate per word), by the amount of pages (i.e. rate per page) of the original text) or per category of the document (i.e. birth certificates and academic diplomas, which normally have a fixed price); but in the case of a web localisation other tasks may be required, such as editing pictures or inserting the translated text into the CMS platform. These types of additional tasks are normally quoted per working hour.
